Season 5 of The Shield began in January 10, 2006 on the FX Network. It was created by Shawn Ryan and consists of 11 episodes.

The Shield: The Complete Fifth Season was released on DVD in North America on March 27, 2007.

SummaryEdit

Internal Affairs Lt. Jon Kavanaugh tries to bring down Vic Mackey and the Strike Team for the murder of Terry Crowley as well as other crimes. He does this mainly by attempting to force Lem to cooperate by using a possible jail sentence as leverage. The season also focuses on Vic and the Strike Team's efforts to end Kavanaugh's investigation and protect Lem.

Also, Julien deals with his new partner, rookie officer Tina Hanlon, while Danny Sofer's pregnancy forces her to work a desk job at the Barn. Also, Steve Billings is promoted to captain and his ineptitude hinders many efforts to stop crime. Finally, Wyms' illness takes center stage as it begins to affect her performance.
