Randy was a paramedic and an acquaintance of Detectives Claudette Wyms and Dutch Wagenbach.

Randy responded to a 9-1-1 call from Felix Contreras about a street vendor called Nivan Gonzalez that had been shot. Randy tended Nivan and took him to a hospital. When Officer Danny Sofer asked him about his condition, Randy said he was "swirling down the drain."

- When Danny tells Claudette and Dutch what the paramedic had said, they quickly guessed it was Randy and called him a "cynical bastard".
