Maynard Hawkins was the husband of Mona Gaines and the father of Lloyd Hawkins. Maynard and Mona had five other children.

Before Season 1Edit

During the marriage of Maynard and Mona, apparently he wasn't a good father. Eventually, most of his children abandoned him and refused to have any relation with him. Only Lloyd stayed with him and Mona.

After some time, Maynard got blind for some reason. When Mona got tired of his abuses, he left him without telling him anything.

Maynard also spent some time in a nursing home, but after missing some payments, they threw him out. Lloyd then took him to live at his house. Unable to deal with him being blind and wandering outside the house, Lloyd usually left him chained in the yard whenever he had to go out.

Season 1Edit

Officers Julien Lowe and Danny Sofer found Maynard chained and injured after being attacked by coyotes. They called Detectives Claudette Wyms and Dutch Wagenbach and just when they were talking with him, his son Lloyd arrived. Maynard was treated by paramedics and taken to the hospital while the detectives interrogated Lloyd.

Later that day, Claudette went to the hospital and asked Maynard what had happened with his wife, Mona. He told him that Mona had left him around six years ago. In the night, when Social Services were taking Maynard away, Claudette asked him why all of his children hated him and he replied "I was a bastard."
