IMDb profile

Hector Luis Bustamante (born March 12, 1972) played Luis Aramboles on The Shield from Season 6 to Season 7.

Biography Edit

Hector was born in Medellin, Colombia to parents Dagoberto Bustamante and Aracelly Durango. They moved to the United States when he was 12. From an early age, Hector showed an interest for acting and participated in a high school production of West Side Story. Despite a well-received performance, Hector decided to pursue art when his drama teacher told him his accent was too thick for American TV.

Hector became the art director for New Jersey Golf magazine, and in 1995 started studying Graphic Design at Parsons School of Design, New York. He paid the school by working as a security guard and became the security manager in a well-known New York retail store on Fifth Avenue.

Still wanting to be an actor, Hector asked for a transfer in his security job to San Francisco, where he attended the Shelton's Actors' Studio. After some time, he had his first major TV appearance on CBS' The Agency, playing the head of the Colombian police. Within weeks he landed his second role in one of his favorite TV shows NYPD Blue. On 2003, Hector resigned from his security job and moved to Los Angeles. He has also appeared in shows like 24 (with Benito Martinez), Crossing Jordan, Monk, and Without A Trace.
