Biography

Close was born in Greenwich, Connecticut to Bettine and William Close, a doctor. Close showed interest in acting from an early age. However,when she was seven years old, her family entered a cult group called Moral Re-Armament. During that time, Close performed with an MRA group and traveled for several years later. After 15 years, she rebelled against the movement because she wanted to go to college.
Close studied at The College of William and Mary, and started her film career in 1982. She quickly gained attention with her roles on Dangerous Liaisons and Fatal Attraction. In 1990, she received critical acclaim for her role on Reversal of Fortune. In recent years, she has dedicated time to work in television. Her role in "The Shield" was so popular that the FX Network decided to give her her own show, called "Damages".
Close has been married three times, more recently to David Shaw. She also has a daughter from a previous relationship.
