Before Season 2[]

Lou and Mike Holden were best men at each other's weddings. However, Lou was aware that Mike used beat his wife, Julie regularly. Also, Lou had helped Mike a couple of times after he had been arrested for soliciting prostitutes, being drunk, and disorderly behavior. Each time, the charges against Holden were dropped on technicalities because Lou intervened.

When Julie took her son and left Mike, seeking refuge on a shelter for women, Mike approached Lou to find the address of the shelter. Lou finds it out and gave the address to Mike.

Season 2[]

After Detectives Dutch Wagenbach and Claudette Wyms found out Mike Holden was the prime suspect for the murders at the women shelter, they brought Officer Lou to the Barn for questioning. Lou was shocked upon hearing the news, but he still didn't tell Claudette or Dutch the whereabouts of Mike alleging that he hadn't seen him in some time. He also claimed that he knew he would incriminate himself and lose his job if he told them about Mike. Later on, they confronted Lou with the fact that he had withdrawn money to give to Mike. Even after Vic began to interrogate him, he decided to keep his mouth shut.

After Mike was killed in a hostage situation, Claudette approached him and told him what had happened. Despite being devastated by the news, he still told Claudette and Dutch he didn't say anything so he could keep his job. Claudette didn't care, and told Lou to get out of The Barn.
