Michael K. Lee (born June 5, 1973; age 50) played Richard Kim during Season 1 of The Shield.

Biography and career[]

Michael K. Lee was born in Brooklyn, New York, but grew up in Salamanca, a small Native American reservation town near Buffalo. His father was a surgeon that had set up his practice there. As a child, Lee learned to play both violin and piano and eventually played in the Greater Buffalo Youth Orchestra. Later, he studied psychology at Stanford.

Lee's acting career began in 1995, when he was cast in the second national tour of Miss Saigon. After that, he joined the Broadway production of the musical. He also acted in Jesus Christ Superstar, Rent, Aladdin, and Pacific Overtures. Lee has also appeared in feature films like The Ghost and George Takei's Allegiance. His TV credits include A Korean Odyssey and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

Lee currently lives in Seoul, Korea. He is married to Kim Varhola.
