David Rees Snell (born August 20, 1966) played Detective Ronnie Gardocki on The Shield and voiced the same character in The Shield: The Game.

Biography

Rees Snell was born in Wichita, Kansas. He debuted in the 1995 TV film Truman where he played a reporter. After that, he had some small roles in films until he was cast as Ronnie Gardocki in 2002. He has also worked as a voice actor for several video games.

After finishing The Shield, David has reunited with his past crew and fellow co-stars for several shows. From 2008 to 2009, he worked in The Unit which was also created by Shawn Ryan. In 2011, he appeared in Sons of Anarchy, which was created by Kurt Sutter. There he reunited with Benito Martinez and Kenneth Johnson. In 2012, he teamed again with Ryan for the show Last Resort, which also featured Matt Gerald.

David is married to Melanie Myers.

Role on The Shield

Initially, David Rees Snell character on The Shield was supposed to be a background character. However, the writers later decided to make the whole Strike Team an integral part of the plot, and his character became more important as the series progressed. This is also evidenced on his credits when he was uncredited in the "Pilot", but by the sixth season had become a member of the main cast.

David's wife, Melanie Myers played Officer Paula throughout the whole show.
