Autism is a brain development disorder characterized by impaired social interaction and communication, and by restricted and repetitive behavior. The symptoms of autism can be identified before a child is three years old. The signs usually develop gradually, although this is not exclusive. Some autistic children have develop normally at first and then regressed. Although early intervention can help children gain self-care, social, and communication skills, there is no known cure.
